Itzel Munoz, Resident in Counseling
Itzel Munoz (License #0704015816) is a licensed Resident in Counseling. She provides services to clients ages 11 to adult in both English and Spanish. Itzel uses an intersectional, culturally-informed approach to understand dynamics of power, privilege, and social justice. Throughout Itzel’s life, she realized that there is a gap and a need for more bilingual counselors in the mental health field, and her goal is to continue to work with marginalized groups.
Itzel specializes in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, as well as pre- and post-migration trauma and life transitions. Itzel integrates evidence-based theories and interventions into sessions such as: Psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also uses Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed interventions
Itzel received a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University.
