Quarternote Counseling, a private enterprise, provides outpatient mental health therapy to individuals and groups age 5 and older. Services are avaliable in English, Spanish and Russian. Quarternote Counseling seeks to empower clients to access their inner resources for change, and tailors therapeutic approaches to fit each individual client’s challenges, culture, value system, learning style, and personality.
Owned/managed by principal therapist Gillian Clissold LPC, Quarternote Counseling welcomes clients experiencing depression, anxiety, addiction challenges, dissociation, trauma symptoms, mood swings, grief, LGBT issues, and family conflict.
A primary therapeutic intervention used is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach premised on the idea that we can change how we feel about issues in our lives by changing how we think about those issues.
In addition, Quarternote Counseling uses a variety of modalities to tailor the therapy session to the particular needs of the client. These include the healing-through-action techniques of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Role Play, and Ecotherapy.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is provided for those experiencing disturbing memories associated with past trauma, and can also supplement therapy for other challenges.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapeutic approach is also used in appropriate circumstances, particularly when the client feels pulled between different “parts” of themselves.
Equine Assisted Learning is available for clients facing life challenges, such as the transition from middle school to high school. It is not a mental health intervention.
Quarternote Counseling accepts the following insurance: Aetna; Anthem (including Healthkeepers); CareFirst (including CareFirst Blue Choice); InTotal Health; Magellan, and; Medicaid. A sliding scale is available for clients of limited financial means who either do not have insurance or have insurance not accepted at Quarternote Counseling. In addition, some clients may be able to access out-of-network benefits.
